ChemPro vitrification alters the chemical and physical
properties of COPR rendering it permanently inert.

  • Melt process of low voltage (100V)/ high amperage super
heats soil to 2800F to achieve molten (low viscosity) state.
  • CO2 gas released lowering chrome valence to CrO3 and Ferro-chrome (furnace bottom)
Residual chrome oxide physically bound in glass substrate at similar levels to food grade package.
  • Leachability (TCLP) studies performed as part of SITE demonstration confirmed chrome oxide permanently locked in vitrified glass as trivalent. Material ground to sub micron particle size and showed no release in ground water or environment.
